September 22, 2022 GraceKennedy Money Services (GKMS Guyana) Ltd – home of Bill Express and Western Union – celebrated International Literacy Day under the 2022 theme “Transforming Literacy Learning Spaces” by donating reading books and other learning materials to the Joshua House Children Centre.
The handover took place at the centre on September 8, 2022.
The Joshua House Children Centre is a registered organization devoted to the care of orphans and children who cannot be cared for by their biological families. The children in the home’s
care are exposed to several activities as well as schooling. Additionally, volunteers come in and assist with engaging the children in art and craft, sports and other activities. The children are all part of the public education system with some of them excelling
despite the adversities they face.
Commenting on the GKMS donation, Troy Williams, Country Manager, said: “Continuing a tradition of philanthropic activities, it is our aim, at GKMS, that by donating the
books, we will be helping to make a difference in the lives of children at the orphanage”.
Ms. Gladys Accra also expressed her gratitude and said, “I really would like to thank Grace Kennedy Money Services for the donation as it contributed to the education of the Children in this home. They
really appreciated it and will make good use of these items. Thanks very much”.
