It’s been 30 years since GraceKennedy Money Services and Western Union opened their doors to keep Guyanese people connected with families and friends locally and abroad.
20 years ago, the connection evolved to allow customers sending and receiving money to be able to have the convenience of paying their bills with the Bill Express service..
GKMS dedicated the celebration of the milestone to their customers and expressed gratitude for their continued support. Fans and customers were given the opportunity to unlock an invitation to a special event held on the lawns of the GKMS Head Office located at 94-95 Upper Robb Street, Bourda, Georgetown. The lucky customers were selected as a result of their participation in activities hosted via the GKMS social media channels prior to the company’s birthday.
Country Manager, Troy Williams expressed his gratitude in celebration of this huge milestone. “Thanks to our partners, Western Union, who’ve been with us throughout these 30 years, they’ve been supporting us along the journey. A big thank you to our customers, sub-agents, customer service representatives, our staff and other stakeholders for being a part of this company’s success. You have been behind us, working with us and supporting us and today we celebrate the milestone of 30 years. As we look forward to continue to serve Guyanese, I would like to draw attention to our mission to connect communities and improve lives by fostering financial inclusion, whilst providing convenient and efficient money solutions. We will continue to commit to this mission; while the road ahead will have challenges, I believe if we embrace our mission and if we continue to support each other I believe we will achieve much more and there will be greater milestones for us to celebrate. The best years are ahead”.
The lucky winners were celebrated by the GKMS staff and were treated with entertainment and refreshments and received a grocery hamper as a token of appreciation.
GKMS Guyana Limited started business operations at its head office, on February 14, 1993, and, in June 1994, the company added C&F Supermarket (on Regent Street) as a sub-agent. Since then, the network has expanded into villages and outlying areas across Guyana, from Corriverton to New Amsterdam, Rosignol to Linden, and to the Essequibo Coast.
The Western Union & Bill Express network has grown to over 55 locations countrywide, over the years.
