The 2019 edition of the cricket academy sponsored by the Western Union Malteenoes Sport Club (MSC) will begin today, Monday July 29, from 9:00h at the Malteenoes Sports Club on Thomas Road in Thomas Lands, Georgetown.
Slated to conclude on Friday August 9, this academy will hold sessions for male and female participants between the ages of 6 years and 18 years daily from Monday to Friday between 9:00hrs and 15:00hrs.
Besides cricket, participants will benefit from information in areas such as personal and educational development, which are equally important to any individual. Some activities planned for the academy are: training on etiquette, public speaking, anti-drug awareness, and Interactive and critical thinking.
Head Coach of the National Under-17 team, Orin Bailey, and Demerara Cricket Club Coach, the former Guyana senior off-spinner Garvin Nedd, will run sessions at this cricket academy, assisted by female coach Subrina Munroe.
Registration fees for girls between the ages of 6 and 12 years cost G$2000. The fee for girls aged 12 to 18 years is G$3000. The fee for boys aged 6 to 12 years is G$3000; and for boys between the ages of 12 and 18 years, the fee is G$4000.
The following dress code applies to all participants of this cricket academy: Long track pants, white T-shirts, and 70 percent white sneakers.
Application forms are available at the MSC in Thomas Lands between 15:00hrs and 20:00hrs daily.
Besides Western Union Grace Kennedy Remittance Services, past participants of this cricket academy have contributed financial support to the staging of this academy.
The academy’s opening ceremony today, Monday July 29, is expected to be attended by Director of Sport Christopher Jones, who will deliver the feature address.
